Pebble Firefly Count
Cobb Farm orchard—look, then see;
One soft glow beneath a tree.
Alice whispered, “Glow number one.”
Callen counted when it was done.
Creek bridge—glimmer number two;
One small light seemed bright and new.
Both stayed still; the breeze went by;
No hands reached toward the sky.
Pasture fence—what shall we say?
Glow number three twinkled away.
“Watch, don’t catch,” or whisper low,
“Glimmer-giggle—there it goes.”
Flower-fence lights in make-believe play
Danced like fireflies in the day.
