Blueberry row—look and see;
One short chalk line marked where to be.
Emmitt whispered, “Line down low.”
Aralynn said, “Here we stop.”

Both kept still and left the pathway clear.
Trusted grown-up stayed nearby;
Both waited to hear, “You may go.”
Lantern post—what shall we choose?
Say “We can wait,” or rest our shoes—
Or whisper silly, “Ding-dong-chalk!”
Then move together when grown-up says walk.
