The Shadow-Cut Gesture Deck Makes One New Rule
The shadow-cut deck shows the same event in two opposite silhouettes, allowing both memories to remain honest. The cast does not chase the deck; it returns as the movable clue while the characters take three jobs around lantern porch. The dominant anchor is “Near goes far; quick goes slow—leave one beat where nothing goes.”
Rhyme
Inside blackberry arch, two memories met:
“The card flew quickly.” “No—slowly and wet.”
Callen Crow remembered a jump toward the light;
Aralynn Fox remembered a low, drifting flight.
Near goes far; quick goes slow.
Kaydence watched both shadow shapes show.
Aleea turned the deck; its cutouts agreed:
one event can hold more than one honest speed.
Only the shadow-cut deck went away,
toward feather clearing through the sprinkle-gray.
The four stayed back till its dark shapes returned,
with one new rule in the edge they had learned.
At lantern porch, they changed where they stood.
Three jobs began when the sightlines were good:
Callen held the shade-screen high but still;
Aralynn aligned the deck with the sill.
Kaydence and Aleea shared job number three:
Kaydence marked “quick,” Aleea marked “slow” to see.
All three jobs met once in a shadowed square—
opposite motions made one chorus there.
High and low, come and go;
bright drop, dark shape, fast and slow;
tap at the sill, then—
No word filled the place. No hand rushed in.
The five-minute sprinkle gave one tick, then thinned.
Silence was the answer the chorus could keep:
an honest empty beat, unfinished and complete.
