Spencer rotated gears beneath his hand;
Lex faced the route, and both could understand.

Kaydence watched through round glasses clear.
Aydin tested each meaning from where he stood near.
One choice showed a spiral; one pointed back.
They kept both useful clues upon the chalk.

Click for the corner, chalk for the line;
leave me the rhyme that would finish the sign.
Children may offer “fine,” “shine,” or “done,”
but no guessed word has to be the one.

Before willow root gallery, the route reversed.
No one hurried to make the ending first.
They returned to the courtyard’s waiting space,
where rain-specked chalk held half a helper’s face.

The youngest voice belonged to Aydin there.
He chose one small sound that everyone could share:
a thumbnail touched the deck—just tik—
and every busy hand stopped quick.

The five-minute sprinkle softened one chalk ray.
Barely moving air let the other marks stay.
The smallest sound became the closing part:
one tiny tik beside the unfinished art.

No reprise filled the missing rhyme tonight.
Half a cart, one wheel, and an open light-shaped space stayed white.
The picture did not fail because it had to wait;
tomorrow had a place beside the courtyard gate.
