The Acorn-Cup Pause

They started above where the rain chain curled,
Then chose separate ways to the press below.
Kaydence arrived with a circle in mind;
Emmitt brought a straight line, careful and slow.

The pocket sound basket gave tik—tok—tup.
Its little lid cast firefly-switchback light.
“Pretend route only,” said Kaydence. “We stay at the press.”
They traced circle, line, turn from left into right.

Circle with a hum. Line with a tap.
Turn where the apple-press shadow makes a gap.
Again came the basket: tik—tok—
Then an acorn cup rolled in and interrupted the track.

Emmitt began, “Move it.” Then paused in the middle.
“No—leave room. My answer has changed.”
Kaydence held the circle; the line stayed open.
The group pattern waited, not broken or blamed.

Lillian stood near, new to the play.
“Would you choose a job for the extra cup?”
“It can mark the pause,” Lillian answered,
And set it between line and turn, open side up.

Circle with a hum. Line with a tap.
Pause at the cup. Then turn through the gap.
The basket’s pretend route reversed at the press;
Each restart left room for an answer to change.

They never walked on to firefly switchback.
They traced on the damp press-yard ground instead.
From eye height: a circle, a line, and a cup.
From above: one looping helper-route spread.

Gold light found the wet edges after the rain;
Lillian’s pause made the whole pattern clear.
Kaydence held the circle; Emmitt kept the line;
The newcomer’s cup gave the turn somewhere to steer.
