The Cleanup Cheer

Before the first step, the pinwheel echoed, “Go!”
Spencer heard a route; Aralynn heard a show.
Above moss-log stage, three paths sloped down;
Each chose one way, with no line through town.

At pumpkin corner, the pinwheel breathed loud:
WHIRR—pinecone shop! it called to the cloud.
Quiet Lillian counted the jobs in the plan:
“One holder, one finder—and cleanup for… ____.”

The blank stayed open. No one supplied the word.
They watched one dew bead and a barely stirring frond.
Aralynn said, “Ready can take all the time.”
Lillian answered softly, “someone new,” in the rhyme.

Under the pinwheel lay one extra cloth loop.
Zylar waited nearby, not yet part of the group.
Spencer asked, “Would you choose what this loop could do?”
Zylar said, “Gather loose clues when the game is through.”

Loud pinwheel: “WHIRR—follow my sound!”
Quiet helpers: “Leave each pumpkin piece where it’s found.”
They followed the echo toward pinecone shop,
With Lillian calling each gentle pause and stop.

At the shop, three light marker cards lay by the door.
The pinwheel’s echo had finished; they needed no more.
Spencer folded one card; Aralynn stacked two.
Lillian held the basket; Zylar threaded the loop through.

The cloth loop gathered the cards in one tidy ring.
No confetti flew, and no loud bell had to sing.
They wiggled while sorting, then paused by the bin—
Cleanup became the celebration they were in.

Zylar carried the looped cards back to their place.
Lillian closed the basket; a smile warmed each face.
Pearl-gray dawn brightened the pinecone-shop floor:
The person outside the pattern held a needed role.
