Child-facing question: Can four friends trade jobs until their playful chorus becomes a set of directions everyone can use? The Shadow That Traded Jobs
Two sides of chalk courtyard came into view;
Spencer met Aydin while Alice met Kaydence too.
They paused at Carlisle rain porch, feet out of rain,
Where a pocket kindness stamp held one window-pane.
Alice stamped sunlight on sprinkle-dark ground.
Spencer checked edges where safer steps wound.
Kaydence stepped the curve; Aydin swept it away.
Stamp, check, step, sweep— four jobs made one play.
They traded one role after every short round:
Spencer stamped; Kaydence checked the firm ground.
Aydin stepped; Alice swept every mark out of sight.
The stamp-window’s shadow bounced left into right.
Before pumpkin corner, one wet patch shone.
No one called it danger; they changed what was known.
They reversed toward the porch, then stopped at its edge.
The chorus turned directions around the wet hedge:
Stamp the start. Check the shine.
Step the curve. Sweep behind.
Aydin joked, “Sweep behind? No broom has a behind!”
Alice laughed, “Clear directions beat a sparkly line.”
Kaydence stamped; Aydin checked; Alice stepped with care.
Spencer swept the damp trace that no longer stayed there.
Then roles traded again without bossing the turn:
Each helper gave the next one a choice they could learn.
Sunlit cloud ribbons crossed the stamp’s little frame.
Four moving shadows joined, separated, then changed.
No footpath remained on the courtyard floor;
The picture kept moving as they helped one another more.
At Carlisle rain porch, the last exchange slowed:
One shadow checked, one stepped, one swept, one showed.
The route disappeared, but the light-picture grew—
A moving quilt of helpers, with no one controlling the view.
