Rhyme
Soft Shade, Sharp Sun
The bridge alcove stayed hidden from sight;
At stump-school yard, one basket caught light.
Its woven lid whispered, “Shade or sun?”
Four friends saved the answer till testing was done.
At sunflower fence, Aralynn called loud:
“Sharp sun shows stripes!” to the listening crowd.
Kaydence answered softly, “Shade shows a blur.”
Emmitt said, “Both can be true where the basket may turn.”
Call: “Soft shade or sharp shine?”
Aralynn: “Sharp!” Kaydence: “Soft!”
Emmitt: “Sideways.” Lillian: “Slow enough to choose.”
No matching answer was required before use.
They passed the basket and twisted the phrase:
“Soft shade shows shapes; sharp sunshine shifts shapes.”
Aralynn took “soft”; Kaydence took “sharp”;
Emmitt turned slowly; Lillian tapped the start.
The basket worked one way under sunflower shade,
Then changed when one gold opening was made.
Inside its weave were four loose picture strips;
They could keep only three; one blank strip waited apart.
“Invite everyone to say it fast!” Aralynn began.
Lillian changed it: “Offer fast, slow, gesture, or scan.”
The usable invitation gave every turn a place;
The tongue twist became play, not a speed race.
Back at stump-school yard, cleanup started the cheer:
Kaydence brushed strip one; Emmitt folded strip two.
Aralynn passed strip three; Lillian tucked all three away.
Brush, fold, pass— made the cleanup play.
As each strip moved through leaf-filtered light,
Basket shadows stretched, overlapped, and turned bright.
No one posed at the end; their cleanup stayed in motion—
A moving shadow picture became the celebration.
