Lillian answered with one open square in the air.
No gesture copied the sound it answered;
Each response added a different shape.
The quilt read square, curve, dot before the rain.
The damp fold broke the square from the chain.
They reversed the panel order along the return:

At changed lantern porch, three moonflower leaves watched.
