The Tab Between Two Memories
The ribbon invitation had already gone around—
Every friend had seen it except the guest it meant to find.
At stump-school yard, four voices began:
Spencer: “Who did the ribbon reach?”
They circled once, then crossed in pairs:

Austin: “Whose name was missing from the welcome?”

Alice checked its blank side. Aydin checked its hinge notch.
The tab had never reached the guest it was meant to include.
They did not cheer for sending something quickly.
First they changed where the next meeting would begin.
