The Pause Card Path

The quilt was waiting at ribbon meadow,
seed pockets resting in a slow, soft row.
Feather clearing stayed hidden beyond the mist.
The first four cards were ready to switch.

Brandon held while Haylee heard.
Aydin checked every seed-filled word.
Zylar kept Pause beside the fold.
Quick in light, slow in shade; trade the card when the choice is made.

At rain-chain corner, sun crossed the square.
The seed pockets rattled quick in brighter air.
“Take the bright route now,” said Brandon.
Aydin answered, “Wait and hear the shaded sound too.”

The group chose quick, and the cards all changed:
Hear to Brandon, Pause to Haylee,
Hold to Aydin, Check to Zylar.
Then a cloud ribbon softened the quilt’s rattle.

Quick in light, slow in shade; trade the card when the choice is made.
They tested again beneath the trellis shadow.
The seeds whispered slowly, and the lower path stayed damp.
Aydin’s rejected waiting idea became the safety check.

The group returned to ribbon meadow by the drier edge.
The cards traded once more after that decision:
Check to Brandon, Hold to Haylee,
Pause to Aydin, Hear to Zylar.

The quilt lay flat with one pale seed-line pointing home.
No one pretended the hidden clearing had appeared.
Zylar listened until the final rustle stopped,
then quietly named the last line:

“We used the bright sound and the shaded sound.”
