Hawkins Hollow Nursery Rhymes
Weather-Vane Route Puzzle
Child-facing question: Can three different voices reverse a route refrain, choose the longer safe way, and reveal a garden picture one watered part at a time? Dominant anchor: Stage—bend—deck; deck—bend—stage. Cast: Lex gives the low deck pulse and later waters the first stitched section; Aralynn Fox gives the curving bend whisper and later waters the second; Aydin gives the bright stage tap and later waters the third. Lillian and Zylar were considered as available, but the exact three-voice braid and three-section reveal are strongest with the named trio.
Rhyme
The Long Way Watered
Rose light followed three separate paths
down from stump-school yard.
Lex, Aralynn, and Aydin met
where the weather vane kept watch.
One folding route puzzle opened.
Three shut panels clicked apart.
Lex gave a low deck sound.
Aralynn curved a whisper: bend.
Aydin tapped the bright word stage.
Their braid began from end to start:
Stage—bend—deck,
the route remembered backward.
“Try it the other way,” said Lex.
Aralynn held the middle sound.
Aydin waited for the final place.
Deck—bend—stage came round.
Deck—bend—stage:
three voices, three useful strengths.
Lex kept the steady beginning.
Aralynn shaped the changing middle.
Aydin gave the landing beat.
But the short path crossed a damp narrow strip.
The puzzle folded one panel wide
and showed a longer curve around it.
The detour was not extra waiting.
It became the part they shared:
Lex marked the first broad turn;
Aralynn guided the curved middle;
Aydin gave the last stage tap.
They followed the wider way
and reached apple-crate stage
with the refrain in forward order.
Three dry stitched sections waited there.
Lex watered the first—one leaf appeared.
Aralynn watered the second—a stem curved on.
Aydin watered the third—two small buds joined.
Leaf, stem, buds became one garden pattern.
The longer route had carried every voice.
Water darkened only the stitched design;
the picture finished where the detour ended.
