The Ring Left One Place Open

Blueberry trellis stayed out of sight
while one clockwork ring clicked near the creek.
Callen turned it at pebble shelf;
Aydin listened for the route to speak.

The ring offered Aleea one bright role:
“Be Ring Caller. Call the guest.”
Aleea shook her head. “Not that role.
I will keep the open gap instead.”

Call was the first last word.
Click, turn, point—call.
Lillian watched the empty place
where the intended guest did not arrive.

Gap became the next last word.
Aleea held one space unfilled.
The clockwork ring pointed past garden bell corner
toward the wrong little stage.

They followed far enough to notice:
the stage was not the answer they needed.
“Where is the guest?” changed underneath
to “What invitation can wait honestly?”

Ask became the third last word.
No one answered for the absent guest.
Callen turned the ring back toward garden bell corner;
Aydin checked the altered route.

At garden bell corner, three pieces waited.
Callen placed one square base.
Aydin set one roof-shape above it.
Lillian placed one round glow-dot inside.

Aleea kept one small doorway open.
The lantern picture stayed flat and unlit.
Square, roof-shape, glow-dot—three pieces joined;
the open doorway was not a missing piece.

Leave became the final last word.
Leave one honest place for later.
The image stopped before pretending completion;
the promise ring rested beside the open door.
