Mud Kitchen Route Puzzle
Child-facing question: Can four friends trade jobs, leave the missing rhyme open, and discover that a high memory and a low memory can both be true? Dominant anchor: Hold → Look → Check → Pass. Cast: Austin Turtle begins with Hold and remembers the high route; Alice Mole begins with Look and remembers the low route; Aralynn Fox begins with Check and aligns the two reflected shapes; Aydin begins with Pass, reads the joined message, and keeps the blank board place open. Austin remains upright, clothed, and anthropomorphic. Alice never wears glasses. Lillian and Zylar were considered as available, but the named four roles already complete the card, memory, shadow, and choice structure.

The Shadow Said Both
Pearl-gray dawn held mud kitchen still
while one mirror-backed route puzzle passed.
Austin held the first role card;
Alice opened the puzzle window.
The picture window showed pinecone shop.
“Which path leads high to the step?”
Austin remembered the bright upper route.
The waiting rhyme space stayed open.
Alice remembered a low shaded turn.
“Which way stayed cool by the ground?”
Both memories came from one morning;
neither one pushed the other out.
After that decision, cards traded:
Alice held; Aralynn looked.
Aydin checked the mirrored edge.
Austin passed the puzzle on.
The high reflection and low reflection
met only when the mirror stood still.
Aralynn aligned the two soft shapes.
Aydin kept one open place unfilled.
The shadow darkened across damp clay.
One readable word appeared: BOTH.
The missing rhyme did not need one route;
the answer held two views.
They traded the cards after deciding:
Look became Pass; Check became Hold.
No job stayed with one friend forever;
the puzzle moved, but the cast stayed home.
From a remembered feather-clearing game,
Aydin borrowed one useful idea:
leave a blank choice where a mind may change,
without pretending it chose already.
One board held Now.
One board held Later.
One third place stayed blank and open,
beside the BOTH shadow on the clay.
