Child-facing question: Can two friends trade every role, show why a route is safe, and turn two different ideas into one temporary crossing? Dominant anchor: Hold → turn → check → pass. Cast: Lex holds the lower curved memory, checks ground clearance, and later carries the recovered board. Callen Crow holds the upper straight memory, remains clothed and anthropomorphic, moves the blocking tray, and later carries the recovered bark slab while the tray rests separately. Lillian and Zylar were considered as available, but the exact two-person disagreement-to-coordination engine is strongest with Lex and Callen.

The Crossing That Came Apart
Inside ribbon meadow, one frame turned loose
toward garden bell corner alone.
Lex and Callen moved round mailbox bend,
each keeping one route known.
Four cards traveled decision to decision:
Hold—Turn—Check—Pass.
Lex held low; Callen turned high.
Then every job changed hands.
“Does low mean safer?” asked the shadow.
“Does high mean clear?” asked the light.
Lex remembered one bending way.
Callen remembered one straighter side.
A quick helpful tray beside the frame
blocked the lower approach.
They stopped before calling the route safe
and looked at what the placement changed.
Lex checked the ground clearance.
Callen moved the tray away.
Their disagreement became two bridge parts:
one lower support, one upper span.
They traded the cards again:
Callen held; Lex turned.
Lex checked; Callen passed.
The visible sequence showed each safety step.
One board, one shallow tray, one bark slab
made a temporary bridge.
Lex placed the lower board.
Callen set the upper bark slab.
The tray held the center level.
They crossed the bridge one at a time.
Then every piece came free.
Lex lifted the board.
Callen lifted the bark slab.
The shallow tray rested beside them.
No bridge remained across the gap.
The clear ground showed the work was done.
Safety stayed visible in the empty crossing,
not assumed because the plan had begun.
