A seed-filled dial left frog pond rim
while four friends stayed behind.
Only the dial went toward berry landing;
two memories traveled in mind.
Spencer said, “Low and slow.”
Callen said, “High and quick.”
Both remembered the same bright turn
from a different side of it.
Around weather-vane deck, they changed places.
Lex set one tiny tray down.
Spencer counted three seed beads.
Aleea watched the marked curve.
First they tested quick in miniature.
The turn made all three beads scatter.
Excitement said, “Try the full-sized path!”
Aleea raised one open palm.
The pause held the larger choice still.
Nothing urgent had begun.

Next they tested slow in miniature.

Spencer held the blue half low.
Callen held the gold half high.
